  • Otaku is Japanese for Nerd

    Hello everybody,

As part of my Japanese studies, I have been delving deeper and deeper into the world know only as Otaku. Otaku are people who watch and obsess about Japanese Animation, or Anime.
I've watched a lot, let me tell you. I'm thinking that from time to
time I'll bring you interesting anecdotes from the wondrously
dedicated world of Otaku. The 'Real Otaku Heroes' I posted recently is
    a prime example.

I know you're looking froward to it,

    Aron

  • Here is another Japanese phrase:

    ちょっと日本語をべんきょうします
    Chotto nihongo wo benkyou shimashita

  • Impending doom?

This one is an idiomatic English statement that's translated (by me, or course). There's no
future tense in Japanese (日本語), so instead of making it unfortunately
complicated, I've just left the tense present. To be honest, I think it
Japanese the future would be inferred anyway. がんばって (ganbatte = try your best/good luck)

    あの彼女は私の
    薨去でしょう。
Ano kanojo wa watashi no koukyo deshou.

PS. if you don't know what this is about, I'm offering a prize to whomever can translate this. Use online stuff. Seach for WWWJDIC. ^_^

  • A real entry

Well, after that video, I figured I'd type you something more legit. Let's see...

Japanese is going well. I mean, I think I underestimated the language
when I first started. However, I'm not displeased about it. I'm really
enjoying it, truth be told. Their language is like a window into their
world. The layers of politeness, and way things are said. Somehow I can
understand Japanese culture much easier the more I learn the language.

I think I'm going to start putting little Japanese sentences at the
bottom of the posts. It'll give me another reason to use Japanese, and
I though I could make it interesting for anyone reading this, too. I'll
write something in Japanese, and you can try and figure out what is
says. You can use online translators and whatnot. They are normally less
then perfect, so be careful. If you get it right, I'll award you some
kind of prize. Ano... I'm not sure what it is yet, but I'll figure
    something out.

So, as a hint, this one is an anime classic.

    (anata ga daisuki desu)

  • Okay, so I thought I'd try something different, and put a video in here. Let me know what you think.

  • My hands smell of blood. I've entered their homes, and killed them.
Young and old, I've killed them. In their secret places, I've killed
them. In their halls, I've killed them.

    And yet...

    An heir survives.

  • kyou wa shindaimushi no sensou o hajimashita.
    <today I began the bedbug war.>

    watashtachi o ketsu yo.
    <we will win!>

(no Japanese input from work. Gomen <sorry>)
