  • To anyone who's seen it, what do you think the member of the KKK carrying the burning cross is suposed to symbolise in Kanye West's video: Jesus Walks. I can think of what everything else is suposed to represent, but I can't figure that one...

  • I think I'm happy with the election results. I don't think I could have wished for anything better. I mean, ya, it would have been nice to see the NDP get more seats so the liberals were forced to make a deal with them, but that still might happen.

Maybe in two years all the people who voted liberal will get some balls and we'll see an NDP government... or maybe I'm to optimistic.

  • I have no idea what day of the week it is. I only know it’s 11-something because MOD plays on my TV; they re-run it every day at 11. Today at dinner my dad, in an effort to make conversation, asked me: ‘So what did you do today?’ It took me aback. I can’t recall my answer, but I know what I was thinking: ‘ummm… I watched some TV, I think I may have played some video games, I probably went to the washroom a few times, I think I got something to eat around lunch… you know, the usual.’ Heh, somehow this seems a pathetic existence, but somehow I’ve come to love it. On days like today I wish I had a steady job. On days when I work I wish it were a day like today. At first a day like today would just blur itself, turn into laziness begetting the same. But somehow, probably because my mind demands stimulation, I have started being aware of things. Analysing the shows I watch, playing with my sword while I watch. Designing a web site and following a story at the same time. You know, I think I’ve watched the MMVAs at least 3 full times. I’ve seen the stupid Hilary and Hailey Duff video so many times I’m starting to like it. Did you know that there are two versions of The River Below, the only difference is the last second of the video. In one, you can see Billy Talent fry: his body is encompassed in flames as you see his skeleton char. The other, the TV just cuts to static. I watched a show today called ‘Nip and Tuck.’ It was about two plastic surgeons. Honestly, I think the show had a good message: namely that looks are not the biggest deal in life, and focusing to much on them will leave you unfulfilled. The thing is, at the end of the show, they were still plastic surgeons, and the deformed lady shot the gay man she was in love with: the moral wasn’t applied in any of the characters who were supposed to have learned it. It somehow seems to make the moral of the story less poignant. You know what I just notices, Rick had a mullet. You can see the long hairs on his neck. Hey, their playing the MMVAs again, maybe I’ll watch…

  • I'm twenty-nine years old, still wearing the wallet chain, like I was twenty-eight.
I'm wearing my Vans right now, so high school kids will think that I can skate.

    - Five Iron Frenzy

Another month, another free CD. I had a hankering for Ska after the guy I was working with asked me if I listened to any of it. I saw the Supertones, but somehow FIF’s final album seemed more epic, and plus, it reminds me of Mikey. So I got it, and have been listening to it.

I’m really liking it, and I think mainly for one reason: they don’t take themselves seriously. Another quote:

I guess we dodged some passing fad, it looks like it's so far, so bad. This song is rad. You could ask your dad. He won't be mad. This song is stupid.
    - Five Iron Frenzy

Haha, it’s brilliant. I think it’s something the current musical climate really needs. Some artists who don’t take themselves seriously. Eminem comes to mind, and I certainly respect him for it, but you notice he never insults himself, despite all else. Ok, now I know you guys are going to jump to conclusions on this one, but I can’t help but respect the Darkness more and more here. I think I started off hating them so much because if they were serious, they were fucking idiots. But, I’m beginning to see it’s not the case.

VJ: Do you ever just sit back and think, ‘how did this happen?’
Justin Hawkins: Every day when I look in the mirror!

Haha, it made me laugh. You see, he’s not naked in that bath tub because he thinks sex sells or something cracked like that; he’s trying to make you laugh. I don’t know, I’m not going out to get the CD any time soon, but I like how they don’t take themselves to seriously.

It’s something I’ve noticed especially in Rap. Personally I make my rap listening choices based on the intelligence of the rapper, but I find even the most intelligent one’s are terribly proud. The only rapper I can think of who was not is, believe it or not, John Rueben. It was practically the message of his “are we there yet” album… maybe I’ll pick up his new one next month.

I've got friends and family that I respect
When I think I'm too good, they put me in check
So believe me when I say I'm no better than you
Except when I rap, So I guess it ain't true

    - The Beastie Boys

  • You know, I've had several ideas to post in the last several days. Somehow I can't bring myself to start typing... I'm not sure why, maybe I'll post soon...

  • What do you think? I know the panel changing thing is broken, I'm working on it, but what do you think of the look. It's  from my old web site, before  started xanga... I didn't feel like coming up with something new.

  • So I got board half way through changing the style on this thing... I'll fix it later. Oh, and if anyone knows how to get rid of the space to the left, let me know, will ya?
